Women’s Soccer Falls to Eastern Washington

Flames defeated by Eagles 1-0

CHICAGO – In their third contest of the year, the UIC women's soccer team hosted the Eastern Washington Eagles for their third all-time meeting. The non-conference contest saw the Flames (0-2-1, 0-0 MVC) and the Eagles (3-0, 0-0 BIG SKY) battle for possession through 90 minutes. An early second-half goal for the visitors was the difference maker, as the Eagles went on to defeat the Flames 1-0.

FIRST HALF
Emmy Higgins opened the contest with the first shot of the match in the 7th minute of action.

Possession remained even throughout the half, with both teams creating chances. Through 45 minutes, the Flames edged the Eagles in shots, 8-6, with Eastern Washington leading in shots on goal 4-2.

The Flames' best shot came in the 37th minute off the foot of Sydney Bollis. A free kick for the Flames sent the ball towards the box. A bounce over the defense landed in front of Bollis, who took a quick shot. Payton Hyde for the Eagles made a critical save to keep the score even heading into the half.

SECOND HALF
With 45 minutes down and 45 to go, the game was back underway. The visiting Eagles quickly took advantage of the halftime break, scoring in the 48th minute when Bella Hyde found the back of the net.

The Flames looked to respond, with Camryn Ries and Kamryn Brickman both creating opportunities. Ries' shot went just wide of the net, while Brickman forced P. Hyde to come up with another critical save for the Eagles.

Intensity picked up as the Flames searched for the tying goal, but they ultimately came up short, falling to the Eagles 1-0.
