ST. PAUL, Minn. – The UIC volleyball team (0-3, 0-0 MVC) are back on the road again this week, as they participate in the Tommie Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul beginning Thursday.
Friday's 3 p.m. (CT) battle against St. Thomas will be the Flames' lone match streamed, being available on

SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
- This marks the 76th matchup between the Flames and Panthers. Milwaukee leads the series 48-27, though UIC has won three of the past four meetings.
- Milwaukee is still searching for its first win after falling to DePaul (3-0, 0-0 Big East), South Dakota (2-1, 0-0 Summit) and Drake (1-2, 0-0 MVC) in Des Moines last weekend.
- Sophomore Josie Noble led the Panthers' attack with 26 kills across the weekend, including 12 against Drake.
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS
- This is the second meeting between UIC and St. Thomas. The Flames won the first matchup in five sets at Credit Union 1 Arena on Aug. 25, 2023.
- St. Thomas is in search of its first win this season after losses to Texas Tech (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) and Wyoming (2-0, 0-0 Mountain West) at the Rumble in the Rockies Tournament in Laramie, Wyo.
- Seniors Ellie Gustafson and Addie Schmotzer lead the Tommies with 18 kills apiece.
SCOUTING MONTANA STATE
- This is the third matchup between UIC and Montana State. The Flames won the most recent meeting in 2011, securing a 3-1 home victory.
- Montana State opened the season with three consecutive wins at the Maroon and White Classic, defeating Delaware (1-2, 0-0 C-USA), Lafayette (2-1, 0-0 Patriot) and Marist (0-3, 0-0 Metro).
- Sophomore libero Nicolette Noble was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after collecting 63 digs, posting a .982 reception percentage and averaging 4.85 digs per set.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP – BILLIKEN INVITATIONAL
- The Flames opened the season last weekend at the Billiken Invitational, falling short against Buffalo (2-1, 0-0 MAC), Lindenwood (2-1, 0-0 OVC) and Saint Louis (2-1, 0-0 A-10), with the UB and SLU matches finishing 15-13 in the fifth set.
- Sophomore Emma Colombari led the attack for the Flames, collecting 32 kills, averaging 2.46 kills per set over the weekend. She tallied a collegiate-high 15 kills against Buffalo and collected eight kills and 10 digs in the five-set thriller.
- Sophomore Ana Petrides totaled 31 kills over the weekend, highlighted by securing her first double-double with 10 kills and 10 total blocks against Buffalo to open the invitational.
- Junior Jillian Gibbons was defensive pillar in front of the net for the Flames, collecting 14 total blocks over the invitational, including a collegiate-high seven total blocks in the five-set battle against Saint Louis.
