Career: Entered senior season as a 2009 Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year Award candidate...career .331 hitter (158-for-478) with 15 homers and 101 RBI in 145 games in a UIC uniform.

2009: Hit .323 (51-for-158) in 45 games, making 42 starts primarily as UIC's designated hitter...second on the team with nine multi-RBI games...hitting .309 (21-for-68) in Horizon League play...went 3-for-4 with two doubles against Vanderbilt on Mar. 8...hit go-ahead three-run homer with two outs in the eighth in 4-3 nightcap win over Northwestern on Mar. 14...hit a three-run blast against Valparaiso on Apr. 25...had a stellar 2009 Horizon League Tournament, hitting .591 (13-for-22) with eight RBI, four doubles and a homerun in five games...was named to the 2009 All-Horizon League Tournament Team.

2008: UIC[apos]s top hitter with a .382 batting average, 10 home runs, 27 extra-base hits and 61 runs batted in...61 RBI rank fourth in UIC history for runs batted in during a single-season....named Horizon League Championship Most Valuable Player and selected to Horizon League All-Tournament Team after hitting .733 (11-for-15) and driving in seven runs in four games during the league tournament...appeared in all but one of UIC[apos]s 57 games, starting each of those 56 contests...owned a team-leading .613 slugging percentage...perfect six-for-six in stolen bases...hit .552 (16-for-29) with 10 RBI in seven postseason games spanning the league tournament and the NCAA College Station Regional...two-time Horizon League Player of the Week (March 25, May 19)...went 5-for-5, driving in four runs in the process, in the league championship game against Milwaukee on May 25...drove in the game-tying run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in UIC[apos]s comeback 7-6 win over Valparaiso on May 17 to help the Flames clinch the Horizon League regular season title...homered twice, hitting a game-tying two-run long ball with two away in the seventh, in the league tournament against Milwaukee on May 23...drove in a career-high five runs, four coming on a grand slam, in the opener of a twinbill against Trinity International on Apr. 26...hit second grand slam of the season at Purdue on May 14...hit .529 (9-for-17) with five extra-base hits and nine RBI in final four regular season games to garner Ping!Baseball[apos]s Division I Spotlight Performance of the Week recognition on May 22.

2007: Appeared in 21 games, starting 18 of those contests...forced to sit out of a majority of the middle of the season after suffering a fracture to his right wrist...went 3-for-4 and hit first collegiate home run in UIC[apos]s 11-4 win over No. 14 Georgia Tech on Feb. 17...turned in a 2-for-3 day at the plate with an RBI against No. 19 Tennessee on Mar. 4...drove in a run in his first game back from a right wrist fracture against Cleveland State on Apr. 27.

2006: Saw action in 23 games, starting nine, in his first season...made collegiate debut against Air Force on Feb. 17...picked up first career hit against Creighton on Feb. 17.

2005: Missed the entire 2005 campaign due to a fracture in his right elbow and earned a medical redshirt, retaining four years of eligibility.

Prep/Personal: Three-year varsity letterwinner in both baseball and soccer for the Crusaders...led Brother Rice to 98 victories over three seasons...as a senior, pushed Brother Rice to the Catholic League Championship, Schaumburg Flyers Tournament Championship and to the sectional finals...was a part of the Summer State Final team as a sophomore...named to both the All-Catholic League baseball and soccer teams as a junior and senior...garnered All-Area honors in baseball and soccer from both The Star and Daily Southtown as a junior...picked up All-Area honors from The Star and The Regional Reporter as a senior...member of National Honor Society...set the state record for most consecutive shutouts in a season for soccer...led Crusaders in homers as a junior (5) and senior (8)...batted .386 as a junior and .384 as a senior...born April 9, 1986...son of Randy and Pam Schaefer...major is business.
