Biography

2023-24 (Senior):
  • Named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. 
  • Selected to the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Team. 
  • Competed solely at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for the Flames in 2024.
  • Recorded nine singles victories and 12 doubles victories. 
  • Went 6-2 in conference play at No. 1 doubles paired with Mayu Ushio. 
  • Gustafsson's nine singles victories were tied for third on UIC, while her 12 doubles victories were the fourth-most on the Flames.
  • Named MVC Singles Player of the Week on March 20 and Feb. 14 and MVC Doubles Team of the Week with Ushio on April 3.
  • In the fall 2023 season, Gustafsson recorded three singles victories and three doubles victories. Her three doubles victories were tied for the second-most on the team.
2022-23 (Junior):
  • Named to the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference All-Select Team.
  • Named to 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention Scholar-Athlete Team.
  • Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week (Jan. 24, Mar. 29).
  • Consistently the No. 1 singles position for the Flames.
  • No 1. at doubles, teaming up with Ana Jover, Tamara Malazonia, or Natalia Nikolopoulou.
  • Won five doubles matches in a row alongside Jover at the end of the season.
  • Ended the season on a five-match win streak, winning eight of her last ten at No. 1 singles.
  • Ended the season with an overall record of 16-10.
  • Only dropped two contests in Missouri Valley Conference play (5-2).
  • Key contributor in historic victory over DePaul, winning both No. 1 singles and doubles matches.
  • Named a 2023 ITA Scholar-Athlete.
2021-22 (Sophomore):
  • Second on the team in singles wins, and first in doubles wins.
  • Won Horizon League Player of the Year honors after going 14-4 at #1 singles and posting the second best winning percentage in the conference (behind only teammate Ana Jover).
  • Defeated Illinois and Michigan State in early season tournament play.
  • Won 13 of 14 singles matches during the season's stretch run.
  • Played alongside Jover on the #1 doubles court all season...the pair defeated Northwestern, Iowa (twice), and Michigan State in tournament action.
  • Won eight of her first nine doubles matches
  • Finished the season on a 12-match winning streak, going a perfect 4-0 in conference play and picking up wins in the Horizon League quarterfinals and semifinals.
  • With Jover, named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week a conference-high four times.
  • Earned First Team all-conference honors for the second time in as many years. 
2020-21 (Freshman):
  • Horizon League All-League First Team.
  • Ended the season with a 15-7 singles record, competing primarily from the No. 2 position.
  • Finished in a tie for team-best with a 9-1 record against Horizon League opponents.
  • Clinched the win for the Flames against IUPUI (03/28) and Milwaukee (04/11).
  • Took home 14 straight-set wins.
  • Named Horizon League Singles Player of the Week on March 17 after defeating her opponent at Cleveland State 6-1, 6-1 in the series opener and 6-3, 6-2 in the finale, both from the No. 2 spot.
  • Grabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 over her opponent against Roosevelt (03/05) and followed it up with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout performance at No. 2 when the two teams met again on March 21.
  • Blanked her opponent at IUPUI (03/27), 6-0, 6-0 from the No. 2 spot.
  • Shutout her opponent in the Horizon League Semifinal match against Cleveland State (05/01), 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
  • Recorded the second-most doubles wins in the dual season with a 13-7 record.
  • Finished with a 5-2 record in doubles action in Horizon League matches.
  • Competed primarily from No. 1 doubles.
  • Named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week alongside Nell Arendt after the pair won 6-4 at No. 2 at Bradley (02/12) and 6-3 at No. 2 against Eastern Michigan (02/13).
  • Took home another Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week award with Tamara Malazonia on April 14 after the pair took down their opponents at Milwaukee, 6-3 in the opener (04/10) and 6-2 in the finale (04/11), playing both matches from the No. 1 position.
High School / Personal:
  • Earned an ITF junior ranking of 397 in January of 2019.
  • Took home a Swedish League Championship in 2018 and 2019.
  • Won the HTK Swedish Championship in December 2018 and the HTK Swedish Championship for juniors in April 2018.
  • Was the runner-up in U18 singles at the Swedish Championships in 2018 and 2019.
  • Took home a U18 doubles title at the Swedish Championships in January of 2019 and then again in August of 2019.
  • Was the singles runner-up at ITF Denmark in October 2018.
  • Played her way to the semifinals in singles at ITF Kramfors in March of 2018.
  • Was a semi-finalist in singles at ITF Jonkoping in May of 2019.
  • Was a quarterfinalist in singles at ITF Malmo in January of 2019.
  • Made her way to the quarterfinals at ITF Varnamo in May of 2019.
  • Was the doubles champion at ITF Spain in 2018.
  • Majoring in Criminology, Law, and Justice.
