For nearly 70 years, the UIC men’s soccer program has achieved championship-caliber results, become a vibrant part of UIC’s campus life and the Chicagoland soccer community and graduated student athletes. Former players have gone on to represent their countries at the highest level, play professionally, coach at all levels of soccer from the grassroots to national teams and become outstanding members of their communities.
Over our storied history, our program has won eleven conference championships and earned nine NCAA tournament berths, beginning with the 1968 team. Postseason highlights include Sweet 16 trips in 2007 and 2008 and an Elite Eight appearance in 2007. From 2015-2019, UIC men’s soccer won five conference championships, leading to participation in the NCAA tournament in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
The UIC Men’s Soccer Excellence Fund exists to bring greater awareness and financial support to the UIC Men’s Soccer Program on an annual basis. As we aspire to win conference championships and compete on the national stage, there are unique, one-time costs that are outside of the normal operating budget.
Recent examples of UIC Men’s Soccer Excellence Fund uses are the assistance of the purchase of a new tractor, installation of a state-of-the-art Spiideo camera, couches in the locker room updated technology for the locker room and some summer school expenses to aid timely graduations. The UIC Men’s Soccer Excellence Fund has also been used to assist with the lifeblood of all college programs – recruiting.
