Jon Felmet is in his second year as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Facilities, Operations and Capital Projects at UIC, coming aboard in Sept. 2024. In his role with the Flames, Felmet manages the day-to-day operations of the UIC athletics facilities unit, while also overseeing capital projects and game day operations for all Flames athletics events. In addition, he manages budgets, personnel and revenue generations for athletic facility rentals at UIC and plays a key role in the future planning of athletics facilities at UIC. A member of the UIC Athletics Senior Leadership Team, he also serves as the sport supervisor for the Flames' baseball program.

Felmet came to UIC after spending the previous six years (2018-24) as assistant and associate athletics director of facilities and game day operations at the University of Texas at Arlington. While there, he was responsible for directing the daily operations for each of the Mavs’ primary athletics facilities, including the College Park Center, which currently serves as the home for the WNBA’s Dallas Wings.

In addition, Felmet coordinated all logistical needs for each of UTA’s home athletics events, including his role as game manager for men’s and women’s basketball games, while supervising exterior grounds and turf maintenance operations and serving as sport administrator for women’s basketball and baseball. He further maintained oversight for all facilities budgets for current and future department needs, and was the primary liaison to University and community entities on all athletics-related capital projects.

Prior to his successful tenure at UTA, Felmet was a basketball coach at both the high school and junior college levels, as well as a prep golf coach. Among his highlights was coaching the Richland College men’s basketball program (located in Dallas) to the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national championship. For his efforts in leading the Thunderducks to the title, Felmet was named the 2009 NJCAA Division III Gary Cole Coach of the Tournament.

Felmet is a 2001 graduate of St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. In 2008, he received his master’s degree in health and human performance from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
