UIC head men’s basketball coach Luke Yaklich added Dan Ryan to the men’s basketball staff prior to the 2020-21 season. Ryan joined the program as the team’s director of player personnel after spending the 2019-20 season at Boston University as the men’s basketball video coordinator.

This is second time Ryan and Yaklich have worked together, as Ryan served as a student assistant for the Illinois State men’s basketball team for three years while Yaklich was on staff.

Prior to his stint with the Terriers, Ryan spent two seasons on the Belmont staff where he served as the director of basketball operations for a year after being elevated from his graduate assistant position. During his time with the Bruins, the team claimed the 2018-19 Ohio Valley Conference title and a first-round victory in the NCAA Tournament over Temple.

A Chicago native who grew up in Lincoln Park and Libertyville, Ryan graduated from Illinois State in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in university studies before earning a master’s degree in sports administration at Belmont.
