UIC Athletics

Phil Gaul was named Business Administration Associate in December 2019. He previously returned to UIC as the Director of Basketball Operations in July 2017.

He spent the previous season as an assistant coach at Lewis University (2016-17). Gaul was affiliated with the UIC men's basketball team for six years prior to his time with the Flyers. Previous roles with the Flames included Director of Basketball Operations (2014-15), Program Assistant (2012-14) and Student Manager (2010-12).

Gaul's duties included the coordination of team travel, video operations, budgetary responsibilities and practice schedules. He also oversaw the student manager program and aided the squad in several logistical areas.

Gaul assisted with the NBA Pre-Draft Combines in 2012, and 2015-2019. He served as a UIC Basketball Camp Counselor from 2011-15 and UIC Camp Director 2017-2019. Along with running boys and girls from the ages of 9-17 in basketball skills training clinics in 2016-17. 

Gaul graduated from UIC in 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He went on to earn a Master's of Education in Instructional Leadership from UIC.
