Ryan Raymond joins the Flames family in December 2022 as an Academic Advisor for Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). He currently provides academic support for the UIC baseball, swimming & diving and track & field/cross country programs.

Raymond returned to the Chicago area from Norfolk State University where he served as the Director of Academics and lead academic advisor for football, while also working with the Spartans' baseball, women’s basketball, track and field, career development and the C.L.E.A.R. Leadership Academy programs.

Raymond previously held positions in higher education and athletics at LSU, UC San Diego, University of San Diego, Fresno State, North Carolina Central, Georgia State and Florida State in either a full-time or part-time capacity. He also worked in ticket sales for the NBA's Miami Heat and interned while in college with the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. His passion for helping student-athletes succeed is evidenced by his development of the first student-athlete career fair at Fresno State and helping the Bulldogs' women’s soccer program post a record-setting 3.57 GPA.

Raymond is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and a 2022 graduate of N4A’s leadership/manager Professional Development Institute (PDI) cohort. He is involved in ethnic concerns and membership, recruitment, and retention committees through N4A.

A native of the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Raymond received his Bachelor of Science degree in sport and entertainment management at the University of South Carolina in 2009, where he was a rugby standout for the Gamecocks. He received his Master’s in Sport Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Coaching from Florida State in 2012, while continuing his rugby career for the Seminoles. He also attained a certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace from the University of South Florida.
