Horizon League All-Tournament Team…All-Horizon League First Team… USC All-Great Lakes Region Second Team…led the Flames with eight assists, tied for the team lead with 18 points, and scored five goals…three of his strikes were game-winners, and all came in Horizon League play…ranked sixth in the Horizon League with 3.00 shots, and 1.11 points, per conference game…fifth in the league with four goals…played in all 20 games with 19 starts…assisted on both UIC goals in a 2-2 draw with Marquette…scored two goals within 1:39 against Milwaukee, earning Horizon league Player of the Week honors…it was the first multi-goal game of his career…had another multiple-assist game with two helpers against IUPUI…scored the match’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Oakland…added goals against Belmont and Cleveland State in the Horizon League semifinals to establish a three game scoring streak…took a team-high 54 corner kicks…took 52 shots, and had 24 go on goal, both of which were second on the team.
AS A FRESHMAN (2016 at Akron): Appeared in 10 contests for Akron, including making one start…earned first collegiate start in a 1-0 victory over No. 9 Seattle (Aug. 28)…didn’t record a shot on the campaign.
PREP/PERSONAL: Jesus transferred from the University of Akron to UIC in the winter of 2016, after helping the Zips reach the 2
nd Round of the NCAA Tournament. Before joining the Zips, Perez had a glittering youth career that included a USYS State, Regional and National Championship and USSDA Final Four appearance with Chicago Magic PSG, before spending his last year with the Chicago Fire Academy’s U18 team as well as training with the first team. According to TopDrawerSoccer.com, Jesus was the sixth rated player in the Midwest coming out of High School after being called into US Youth National Team camps as well.
