David Marmon joined UIC Athletics as the Head Sports Performance Coach in June 2022. He brings brings more than two decades of experience in wellness and health promotion to the Flames Family.
Most recently, Marmon was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Air Force Special Operations Command at Pope Army Airfield in North Carolina. He directed the human performance pillar of the 21 Resiliency Team and was responsible for the health, wellness and human performance of 189 tactical operators and mission support personnel. Marmon managed the Human Performance Facility and was directly responsible for the design and implementation of multiple training programs at Pope AAF.
Prior to his work with the Air Force, Marmon was the owner, president and CEO of Marmon Muscle, a sports performance training facility in Williamsburg, Va., for more than 10 years. He worked to design strength and conditioning and performance programs for all athletes in a variety of sports including basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, football and more. Maromon managed and mentored a staff of 11 strength and conditioning coaches, while also designing and overseeing a professional coaching internship program. While operating Marmon Muscle, the coaching veteran also served as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach for the men's and women's soccer programs at the College of William & Mary.
Marmon has gained valuable experience at several stops throughout intercollegiate athletics including the University of Washington, Indiana State University, University of Iowa, College of William & Mary, Georgia Southern University, University of Miami, and Auburn University.
He received a master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching from Georgia Southern and a bachelor's degree in health promotion with a minor in business from Auburn. Marmon is CSCS, SCCC, TSAC-F certified and he is a certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainer.
