Sydney Zwart joined the UIC Athletic Training staff in July 2019. She served as the primary Athletic Trainer for the women's basketball program for the 2019-20 season. In the fall of 2020, she became the head trainer for the volleyball and softball programs.
Zwart arrived in Chicago after nearly three years at Oakland University. There she supervised daily operations of OU's Sports Medicine Department while serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for volleyball, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, baseball and track & field. In addition, she served as an adjunct professor in Oakland's Health Sciences Department.
Prior to arriving at Oakland, Zwart worked at the Spectrum Health Medical Group in Grand Rapids, Mich. She served as a Resource Athletic Trainer for East Grand Rapids High School and Sparta High School. She oversaw practice and competition coverage at 21 contracted area high schools and assisted with event coverage for professional affiliations and community partnerships.
From 2013-15, Zwart was a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lindenwood University, providing care for the volleyball and golf programs. She assisted with practice and competition coverage with all 45 competitive teams, while working toward a Masters of Science in Human Performance. She earned that degree in May 2015.
Zwart completed her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training at Grand Valley State University in April 2013.
