UIC Athletics named Andrew Edson as the department's Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance & Administration in October 2022.
 
In his new role with the Flames, Edson will be responsible for leading athletics business operations and will serve as a member of the executive cabinet engaged in strategic planning and resource allocation. He will oversee multiple athletics units, including facilities, operations, and capital projects, information technology, sports equipment and apparel operations, and team travel operations. Edson will also serve as the sport administrator for UIC Softball.
 
"Drew is a skilled and high-energy business administrator and tremendous addition to our senior leadership team," said Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz. "He is passionate about serving student-athletes and shares our vision for advancing Flames Athletics."
 
Edson comes to Chicago from Washington, DC, where he spent the past four years with Georgetown Athletics, most recently as Assistant AD for Budget & Strategy.

"This is a time of change for this department and I am glad that I will be able to help UIC Athletics navigate these changes and future challenges in this new role. It is my intention to support this department to the very best of my abilities and knowledge so that together we can realize Director of Athletics Michael Lipitz's vision and help UIC Athletics achieve new successes in the future on and off the field."
 
An Oregon native, Edson brings more than a decade of experience in a variety of private industry settings engaged in business operations, management, and human resources.  He is also the founder and executive director of The Kennington Foundation, a non-profit that provides educational scholarships for military veterans.
 
Edson earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon and holds postgraduate degrees in Business Administration, Global Business Management (MBO) and Public Administration, Human Resource Management (MPA), and Sports Industry Management (MPS).
