Shavonda Price is in her first season on the UIC women’s basketball coaching staff, after the announcement of her addition in August 2023.

"Shavonda prides herself on building connections with student-athletes," Bracey said. "She is an extremely hard worker with a team-first mentality. Shavonda comes to us with experience as a junior college head coach and a winning pedigree, having been a part of Central Methodist's (NAIA) Elite Eight run in 2019. With her experience, passion, and versatility in the field, Shavonda will undoubtedly elevate us. She is committed to our vision and dedicated to helping us build a championship-caliber program here at UIC."

Originally from New York City, Price came to UIC after one season as head coach at Southeastern Community College (Iowa) and two prior stints as an assistant coach for the Blackhawks. During her two tenures at SCC, Price helped oversee a squad that was ranked as high as eighth nationally and finished with a 22-8 overall record during the 2021-22 season. Additionally, in the 2016-17 season, the Blackhawks were crowned Region XI and District K champions while qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament.

Price also coached two years at Central Methodist University, where the Eagles reached to the NAIA quarterfinals in 2018-19. While at CMU, Price molded three All-Americans and helped the program to a 51-14 record.

Price played two seasons at Defiance College from 2008-10, where she was a defensive playmaker, leading the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) in steals and ranking third in blocks in 2009-10, while finishing in the top 10 in the conference in scoring and rebounding that season. She was a two-time all-HCAC selection (first team in 2010, honorable mention in 2009) and also competed for the Defiance track and field team.

Price then moved on to Johnson C. Smith University, where she played two more seasons, finishing among the team leaders in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots as a senior. She graduated magna cum laude from Johnson C. Smith in 2012 with a degree in business management. She later earned her master's degree in athletic administration from Central Methodist in 2020.
