Biography

2024-25 (Senior): 
  • Won the No. 1 singles and doubles draw at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.
  • Qualified for singles and doubles playing at the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
2023-24 (Junior):
  • Competed solely at the No. 3 singles and primarily at the No. 1 doubles position for the Flames in 2024.
  • Recorded ten singles victories and 14 doubles victories. 
  • Went 6-2 in conference play at No. 1 doubles paired with Agnes Gustafsson. 
  • Had 12 victories at No. 1 doubles and went undefeated at No. 2 doubles (2-0).
  • Ushio's ten singles victories were the second-most on UIC, while her 14 doubles victories were the third-most on the Flames.
  • Named MVC Doubles Team of the Week with Gustafsson on April 3.
  • In the fall 2023 season, Ushio recorded seven singles victories and three doubles victories. Her seven singles victories were a team-high.
PRIOR TO UIC: 
  • Played at Miami (Ohio) for two seasons (2021-23).
  • Went 17-15 in 2022-23 for the RedHawks, spending most of her time at No. 6 singles.
  • Recipient of the 2023 Mid-American Conference Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award.
  • Finished her freshman season in 2021-22 with a 9-8 during the season, competing mostly at No. 5 and No. 6 singles
HIGH SCHOOL / PERSONAL:
  • Grew up in Yamaguchi, Japan. 
  • Helped high school team finish second at the Japan Inter-High School Championship in 2020.
  • Parents are  Masae and Mitsuru Ushio.
  • Economics major at UIC.
