Biography

2023-24 (Senior):
  • Named All-Missouri Valley Conference at the No. 2 doubles position alongside Camille Belberka. The tandem was the first UIC doubles pair to receive all-conference accolades from the MVC since the Flames joined the conference prior to the 2022-23 season.
  • Selected to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. 
  • Named to the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Team.
  • Competed solely at the No. 2 singles position and primarily at the No. 2 doubles positions for the Flames in 2024. 
  • Went 7-16 in singles competition and 17-4 in doubles action. 
  • Led the Flames with 17 doubles victories in 2024. 
  • Finished 2024 with a 16-3 record at the No. 2 doubles position when paired with Camille Belberka. The duo went undefeated with an 8-0 record in MVC play. 
  • Finished the 2024 season 10 match win streak in doubles action and a 14 match win streak at No. 2 doubles when paired with Belberka.  
  • In the fall 2023 season, Malazonia recorded two singles victories and four doubles victories. Her four doubles victories were tied for the team lead. 
2022-23 (Junior):
  • Has played the one, two, or three singles position for the Flames.
  • Finished the season at No. 2 doubles alongside Cora-Lynn von Dungern.
  • Won two singles matches in a row, against Bradley and DePaul, at the end of the season.
  • Tallied a 9-17 record on the season.
  • Named a 2023 ITA Scholar-Athlete.
2021-22 (Sophomore):
  • Named to the All-Horizon League Second Team for the second straight year.
  • Defeated Michigan State in singles play at the Wildcat Invite.
  • Played all season in the #2 singles flight.
  • Won five of six singles matches early in the dual season.
  • Later won four in a row spanning the beginning of the Horizon League schedule.
  • Finished the season with straight-sets wins over Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State in the Horizon League tournament.
  • A flexible doubles partner, played across all three flights and with a variety of teammates.
  • Won four straight non-conference doubles matches.
  • Had three Horizon League doubles wins, over IUPUI, Milwaukee, and Oakland.
2020-21 (Freshman):
  • Horizon League All-League Second Team.
  • Finished the season with a 10-13 singles record overall with a 4-6 record against Horizon League opponents.
  • Competed from the No. 1 spot.
  • Clinched the win for the Flames against Youngstown State (04/03).
  • Took home eight straight-set wins.
  • Picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 against North Dakota (02/19).
  • Named Horizon League Singles Player of the Week on March 11 after going 3-0 with wins over Chicago State (03/02), Cardinal Stritch (03/04) and Roosevelt (03/05).
  • Defeated her opponent at IUPUI (03/27) 6-2, 6-1 from the No. 1 position.
  • Put together a 12-7 record in doubles action with a 5-3 mark in Horizon League matches
  • Competed primarily from the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions.
  • Joined up with Ana Jover for a 6-0 shutout win at Marquette (01/30) from the No. 2 position.
  • Paired up with Agnes Gustafsson for a 6-1 win at No. 1 against their opponents at Dayton (02/06).
  • Named Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week alongside Gustafsson on April 14 after the pair defeated their opponents at Milwaukee 6-3 in the opener and 6-2 in the finale, both from the No. 1 position.
High School / Personal:
  • Competed with the Edgbaston Priory Club and attended nationals in 2018 with a squad that ranked second in the United Kingdom.
  • Ranked in the UK’s top-15 for her age group at age 17.
  • Named the Junior Player of the Year at the 2019 Warwickshire LTA Annual Awards (WALTA) and was also given the Ron Kingsley Award.
  • Attended St. Paul’s School for Girls in Edgbaston, United Kingdom.
  • Daughter of Lela and George Malazonia.
  • Majoring in Biological Sciences.
