Softball Win Streak Halted in Florida

Tampa, Fla. - The 19th-ranked UIC Flames won their fifth consecutive game, downing Purdue Saturday morning by a score of 3-1. Stefanie Christoferson and Samantha Iuli each had an RBI. Sophomore pitcher Maral Binnebose (1-0) picked up the win for her first decision of the season.

The win gave UIC a perfect 5-0 record the the tournament's first round but, unfortunately for the Flames, UIC was eliminated by Mississippi State, 4-2, in the Invitational's playoff round.

UIC is now 22-13 on the season, and will resume play on Monday, March 13, in a double-header against Massachusetts in Tampa, Fla.
