Chicago, Ill. - UIC soccer player Eric Lukin (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) has been named the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Week it was announced today.
A 1999 All-American, Lukin led the Flames (4-1-1) to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Michigan and Cal Poly as he tallied two goals and one assist. Against the Wolverines, the senior forward scored the game-winner as he converted his first penalty kick attempt of the season and then added an assist on Dennis King's (Colona, Ill./United Township) goal in UIC's 2-0 victory.
On Sunday, in the Flames' 19th consecutive home win and fourth straight victory this season, Lukin notched the second goal of the game, and his fourth of the year, en route to a 3-2 Flames' victory.
For the season, Lukin, the 1999 MCC Player of the Year, leads UIC and is second in the MCC with 10 points on four goals and a pair of assists.
After facing local rival Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Sept. 20, in DeKalb, UIC will begin defense of its MCC regular-season title on Sunday, Sept. 24, against the Butler Bulldogs in Indianapolis.
