Tampa, Fla. - The UIC softball team snapped its four-game losing streak on Saturday as they took out Florida A&M, 5-1, in the final game of pool play at the 2001 Speedline Invitational.

Unfortunately for the Flames, the win was not enought to move the team out of fifth in their pool as they thus did not qualify for a spot in elimination play Saturday evening.

Versus Florida A&M, freshman Alycia Creese (7-6) rebounded from her shaky start to the weekend by striking out five en route to her seventh victory of the season.

Jacquelyne Vaca went 2-for-4 on the day with 2 RBI to lead the Flames at the plate while rookie Amanda Rivera also added a two-run pinch hit homer to UIC's cause on Saturday.

With the win, the Flames, who had been held scoreless in their previous four games, got back to the .500 mark for the season with a 14-14 slate.

UIC is back in action on Tuesday as they take on both Wisconsin and Canisius on the campus of he University of South Florida.
