Chicago, Ill. - After retiring from coaching earlier this year, it didn't take long for former University of Illinois at Chicago men's basketball assistant Dick Nagy to make his return to the Flames' program. Nagy, who retired from a 33-year coaching career following the 2000-01 campaign, has signed on to provide the color commentary for UIC's games on ESPN Radio 1000 this season.

"This is a great opportunity for me to stay close to the game and so many people that I respect," Nagy said. "I anticipate having fun and enjoying what promises to be a very exciting UIC team this year."

Nagy, who will work side-by-side with veteran Chicago broadcaster Dave Wills, served as an assistant coach for Jimmy Collins for five seasons at UIC. During his tenure with the Flames, UIC earned a share of the 1998 Midwestern Collegiate Conference regular-season title, picked up a school-record-matching 22 wins that same season and capped off the year with the Flames' first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to his stint at UIC, Nagy, along with Collins, served as an assistant coach under Lou Henson at the University of Illinois for 17 years. The Fighting Illini made 14 post-season appearances with Nagy on the bench, including Illinois' NCAA Final Four appearance in 1988-89.

Wills, who returns for his sixth year of calling the action, and Nagy will broadcast 19 of UIC's 31 games live this season on ESPN Radio 1000, including the season-opener versus Indiana State on Nov. 18 and the Flames' first round game of the Las Vegas Classic at Purdue on Dec. 17.
