Raliegh, N.C. - The UIC men's soccer team ended the 2002 regular season on a high note with a 2-0 shutout at North Carolina State on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match-up for both schools.

With the win, the Flames will take a 9-7-2 overall record into the Horizon League Tournament on Saturday, guaranteeing the team its sixth straight winning season. UIC, which finished third in the league with a 4-2-1 mark, will host #6 Detroit on November 9, at 1:00 p.m.

The Wolfpack, meanwhile, fall to 4-13-0 on the year with the loss.

UIC controlled the offensive play in this contest, outshooting North Carolina State, 22-7, while putting 11 shots on goal. Freshman Ross Cain would take care of things on the defensive end, tabbing three saves for his second straight, and sixth overall, shutout of the season in goal.

Freshman Daniel Bartulovic gave the Flames their first goal in the 35th-minute, redirecting a corner kick from senior Bruno Rasich into the back of the net. It was Bartulovic's second career goal.

The score remained 1-0 until the 85th-minute when reserve Chris Pipis scored his first goal of the season with rookies Roberto Gallo and Sinisa Ubiparipovic getting creditetd for assists on the play.
