Dallas, Tex. - You might as well call Dallas, Texas UIC-South, as the University of Illinois at Chicago athletic teams have been in Dallas for the last week.
After the men's basketball team dropped its first-round NCAA Tournament game last Friday, the men's tennis squad had its sights set on "Big D."
Hans Neufeld's squad learned a lot on Wednesday when the Flames were defeated by Southern Methodist in Dallas, one of the top teams in the country.
On Saturday, UIC put it all together and routed UT-Dallas, 8-1.
The Flames swept the singles matches, as Nick Bodmer, Ken Howrey, Wade Clark, Amol Desai, Omar Husain and Wil Karydakis were all winners.
Bodmer and Howrey teamed up to win the No.1 doubles match in exciting fashion, beating Kevin Durten and Kosta Dombrowski, 9-7.
Husain and Karydakis also picked up a win in doubles in the No. 3 slot.
Clark and Howrey played well despite suffering from the stomach flu for the past few days.
The Flames will be back in action on Friday, March 29, when they play Eastern Illinois in
