Tampa, Fla. - The UIC softball team wrapped up pool play on Saturday morning at the 2002 Speedline Invitational with an 11-0, five-inning victory over Western Michigan.
The Flames, who were shutout last night by Penn State, bounced back with avengence versus the Broncos.
Senior's Jennifer Tiffany and Edel Leyden led the charge. Tiffany went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Leyden also went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a three-run homer in the second inning.
Sophomore Amanda Ritchie went the distance in the circle, picking up her first collegiate win. Ritchie was near perfect, allowing just two hits while striking out three and walking none.
The Flames (15-7) will now sit and wait to find out who their opponent will be in the first elimination round game which will take place later this evening.
