Cleveland, Ohio - The University of Illinois at Chicago men's tennis team received a needed lift on Saturday in Ohio, defeating a pair of Horizon League foes.
The Flames beat Youngstown State, 4-3, in a close match, with Nick Bodmer leading the way. The junior knocked off Seth Banks, 6-3, 6-4 in the No.1 singles match followed by a doubles triumph at No.1 with Ken Howrey.
The Flames fought off a pesky Penguins squad that wouldn't go away.
Howrey, Amol Desai and Neil Ahluwalia also won singles matches in tight fashion, as Youngstown State grabbed the doubles point.
Versus Cleveland State it was a similar story with an easier route.
UIC handled the Vikings with ease winning 7-0.
Bodmer won again in the No.1 slots, as he picked-up his 45th career singles victory vaulting him into third-place on the UIC all-time singles chart, just four shy of the all-time leader, Scott Davies.
Wade Clark (No.3) and Omar Husain (No.5) added singles wins for the Flames, while Will Karydakis joined Husain to win the No.3 doubles match, 8-5.
UIC takes on Northern Illinois on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 PM in DeKalb.
