Peoria, Ill.- Rain may have put a damper on the 2nd annual Bradley Invitational on September 12th and 13th, but the weather did not shut down play as previously reported.
UIC eventually finished all of the team's scheduled matches off-site with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Creighton University this past weekend. Since team scores were not kept at the event, the delayed matches were not officially recorded by Bradley at that time.
The Flames took two of three doubles matches from Creighton during a late-night finish on Friday, September 12. Newcomers Paul Glendenning and Steven Phrasisomboune earned solid victories with steady UIC veterans Ken Howrey and Pat Zufan.
The Flames were unable to duplicate their doubles success against the Phoenix in singles action the next night. UW-Green Bay stole five of six matches, including a hard-fought battle between Matt Weiss and newcomer Karol Zarucki, who was forced to retire from play due to intensive leg cramps.
Glendenning scored the lone singles win by defeating Eric Hines, 8-5.
UIC returns to the courts on Friday, October 3 for the Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Ky.
