Cincinnati, Ohio- The University of Illinois at Chicago women's tennis team won their fifth straight dual match on Sunday, downing the University of Cincinnati, 5-2, at the 5 Seasons Country Club in Cincinnati.
UIC (7-4) took four singles matches and swept their three doubles contests for the doubles point to down the Bearcats (6-8).
Beatriz Cabrera won her tenth straight singles match, downing Lyndsey Molony for 3-6, 6-1, (10-5) comeback victory at the top spot. Cabrera also notched her tenth straight doubles victory with Corey Steven, downing Molony and Hannah Hinton 8-2 at No.1 doubles.
Iris Jaklin snatched a 6-2, 6-2 win at No.3 over Samantha Liu. Jaklin later teamed with Ayca Gumuscu to take a doubles contest from Liu and Jill Klauck, 8-1.
Athanasia Giannoulopoulou wrapped up an outstanding weekend with her third singles victory in two days, defeating Kirby Doran 6-1, 6-1.
Molly Smith and Christina Oum went a perfect 3-0 in doubles during the past two days, earning their third win of the weekend by ousting Doran and Mariana Lozano 8-2.
Smith also turned in a strong singles win at the fifth spot, downing Lozano 6-2, 6-2.
UIC faces Illinois next Saturday, March 13th in Champaign, Ill., at 11 a.m.
