Chicago, Ill.- The University of Illinois at Chicago swimming and diving team is ready to continue its quest to reach the top of the Horizon League, and on Thursday both the men's and women's squads took another step in preparing for outstanding 2004-05 campaigns as team captains were named.

UIC Head Coach Paul Moniak announced that senior breatstroker Chris Kaczor (Tinley Park, Ill./Tinley Park) will return to captain the men's squad along with butterlfy and freestyle standout Ari Bernstein (River Forest, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest).

Senior freestyler Christine Hare (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) will team with junior distance specialist Laura Martensen (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) to captain the women's team.

Senior diver Caitlin Carey (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) returns to captain the diving team.

The UIC men's and women's swimming and diving teams will open the season on Saturday, October 23rd at the UIC Natatorium for a home dual meet with Eastern Illinois beginning at 1:00 p.m.
