Chicago, Ill.- The UIC volleyball team fell to Western Illinois University on Tuesday night 3-1 (30-28, 33-31, 31-33, 30-28) in a non-conference match-up at the Flames Athletic Center.
The Westerwinds ended the Flames four-match winning streak, despite 24 kills by sophomore Katarina Nedeljkovic.
With this victory, WIU (10-9) marks their fifth win in a row.
UIC Junior Ambria Springer posted 13 kills and junior Maura McCarthy added another 10 kills and nine digs on the night. Nedeljkovic led the team with 24 kills and 13 digs. Junior Katie Kozak chipped in with three service aces and 12 digs.
WIU was led by Monique Houston with 13 kills and 14 digs.
After WIU clinched the first two games, UIC battled back and grabbed game three after The Westerwinds had three match point oppotunities. WIU would go on to win a close game four to snatch the 3-1 victory.
UIC moves to 9-11 on the season and will travel to take on Horizon League opponent Youngstown State this Friday, October 14th in Youngstown, Ohio.
