Chicago, Ill.- University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore midfielder Pavle Dundjer (Becmen, Belgrade/Zimunska Gimnazija) was named to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region Second Team on Thursday afternoon.
Joining players from regional powers such as Creighton, Bradley, Memphis, Missouri State, and numerous other tradition-packed schools, Dundjer earned his first career All-Region honor and the first for a UIC player since Joe Morelli made the All-Midwest Region Second Team in 2002.
"It's a great accomplishment for Pavle, especially as a sophomore," said UIC Head Coach John Trask. "Look at the names and the schools that are represented on the team, and for Pavle to be there is a great honor."
"He would not have gotten there without his teammates," continued Trask. "I'm sure Pavle would second that notion."
"Hopefully in the future more of our players can represent UIC by earning such an honor."
Dundjer led the Flames with a career-best 22 points, thanks to a team-leading eight assists and a career-high seven goals.
Among his many accomplishments in 2005 included leading the Horizon League in points per game (1.69) and posting the third-best single-game point performance in the country with eight against Centenary on October 2nd.
Dundjer is a two-time All-Horizon League First Team selection.
