Chicago, Ill.- As the UIC soccer team moved up to fourth in the NSCAA/adidas Midwest Regional Rankings this week, two Flames climbed up in the NCAA Division I national rankings for individual statistical categories.
Sophomore midfielder Pavle Dundjer (Becmen, Belgrade/Zimunska Gimnazija) now stands tied for second in the country in assists per game, while sophomore goalkeeper Jeff Engelbrecht (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.) now stands at third in the nation for save percentage and fifth for goals against average.
With an average of one helper per match, Dundjer now sits at second in the country. He was previously tied for third last week.
Engelbrecht, who sat at eighth in the nation last week in save percentage, now ranks third with a .950 clip of stopping shots on goal. Ranked 20th in goals against average last week, Engelbrecht now stands at fifth with a 0.237 GAA.
The Flames's team defense also ranks among the NCAA's best. UIC is second in the country in team save percentage with a .952, third in team goals against average with a 0.24 and fourth in shutout percentage by blanking 75% of their opponents.
UIC is also 12th in the nation in won-lost-tied percentage, with the Flames' 3-0-1 record giving them a .875 percentage.
UIC is back at home this Friday for their Horizon League opener versus city rival Loyola at Flames Field beginning at 4:30 p.m.
