Soccer Posts One Of Best Turnarounds In Nation

Jan. 25, 2006

Chicago, Ill.- The University of Illinois at Chicago soccer team turned in one of the best one-year turnarounds in the country last season, as the Flames ranked sixth in the NCAA's Most Improved Men's Soccer Teams list for 2005.

UIC posted a 10-5-2 overall record in 2005, improving on their 2004 won-loss-tied mark of 5-12-2 with double the victories and seven less defeats.

"This reflects the hard work and dedication of a group of players that were not satisfied with mediocrity," said Head Coach John Trask. "While this is a great stepping stone, the athletic director, coaching staff and players are by no means slowing down in our quest to be one of the top programs in the country. Hopefully next year we will top this list."

The Flames finished tied for second in the Horizon League regular season standings and picked up two wins over Top 25 foes on the road to highlight a memorable season this past fall.
