Jeffers Earns Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team Accolades

Chicago, Ill. - UIC junior Othyus Jeffers was named to the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team, it was announced by the league office on Thursday morning. The voting panel for preseason awards is made up of league coaches, sports information directors and select media members.

Jeffers, the reigning Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, is the Flames' top returnee in scoring (11.6 ppg), rebounding (7.6 rpg) and assists (3.0 apg). He ranked in the top 10 in the league last season in both rebounding and assists while he led the league with 11 double-digit rebounding efforts.

Jeffers was joined on the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team by Majak Kou and Leon Young of Loyola, A.J. Graves of Butler and J'Nathan Bullock of Cleveland State.

Preseason Player of the Year Blake Schilb anchored the Preseason All-Horizon League First Team, which also includes Brandon Cotton of Detroit, Ryan Evanochko of UW-Green Bay, Quin Humphrey of Youngstown State and DaShaun Wood of Wright State.

Jeffers and the UIC men's basketball team will take to the hardwood for the first time on Tuesday, November 7, when they take on Lewis in an exhibition game at the UIC Pavilion at 8 p.m.
