Oxford, Ohio - The UIC men's basketball team dropped its third straight decision on Tuesday night, falling on the road to Miami (OH), 72-61, in front of 2,221 at Millett Hall.

All-Mid-American Conference forward Nathan Peavy led four RedHawks (2-2) in double figures with 18 points. Monty St. Clair totaled a game-high 10 rebounds, while guard Alex Mossmann dished out 10 assists.

Junior Othyus Jeffers paced the Flames (1-3) with 12 points and seven rebounds. Senior Jovan Stefanov added nine points and eight boards for UIC, which shot 37 percent from the field.

The Flames are now 0-2 in round-robin play in the inaugural Chicago Invitational Challenge. The RedHawks, meanwhile, are 2-0 in the tournament. Both teams will now head to the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., for the final two rounds of the event Nov. 24-25.

UIC enjoyed an early lead in the contest, holding a slim 17-16 advantage with 6:28 left in the opening half.

Miami would take control of the game from that point, though, with a decisive 11-1 run over the next four minutes to build a nine-point (27-18) advantage. The Redhawks owned a 32-24 lead at the half.

The Flames opened the second half with back-to-back field goals to make the score, 32-28, but another 10-1 run by Miami (OH) put the RedHawks up 42-29 with 15:11 left.

UIC would make one final surge, cutting a 16-point deficit in the second half to as little as six in the final minute. Miami scored the game's last five points for the final 11-point margin of victory.
