Fairfield, Ohio- The UIC women's tennis team picked up their third consecutive dual match win on Saturday morning, downing a tough Xavier team on the road by a 4-3 count at the Mercy HealthPlex.
UIC (7-6) took an early lead by capturing the doubles point. Iris Jaklin and Christina Oum teamed for a convincing 8-0 win, and Molly Smith and Grace Gill-Morlis clinched the point with an 8-6 win at the third spot.
Callan Smith took a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Jackie Vilines at the second slot, while the elder Smith followed up her doubles win by posting an equally-strong 6-0, 6-2 victory over Emily Tuchscherer at No. 4 singles.
Grace Gill-Morlis turned in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alicia Papa to give UIC the fourth point needed for the victory.
The win was the second consecutive year UIC was able to down the Musketeers (4-5).
UIC heads on a three-match road trip to California, beginning with Cal State Fullerton on March 18th.
