Jacksonville, Fla.- The UIC men's tennis team put up a good fight against a North Florida team that gave dual match scares to then-No. 5 Ole Miss and then-No. 34 Oklahoma State earlier this season, but the Flames were unable overcome the Ospreys in a 6-1 loss.
Ivan Kovalev went undefeated on the day, teaming with Paul Glendenning in a hard-fought 8-7 (7-4) victory at No. 1 doubles against Leonardo Gomes and German Escallon.
Kovalev went on to defeat Eduardo Pereira in No. 1 singles, rallying from a first-set defeat to win the final two by 6-4, 10-5 scores.
UIC fell to 3-7 on the year, while North Florida moved to 11-6.
The Flames host Southern Illinois at the UIC Outdoor Courts on April 1st.
