Madison, Wis.- In UIC's final regular-season road game, the Flames fell to Wisconsin, 11-0, after five innings. The Badgers improve to 20-19 overall on a four-hit shutout from Eden Brock, while UIC slips to 20-28. The Flames return to Chicago to host Butler on Thursday night at 5 p.m.
Brock moves to 16-10 with the win, recording two strikeouts in five innings. Mercedes Lovato drops to 1-2 in the circle for the Flames with the loss.
The Badgers grabbed the early lead on a two-run home run in the first inning from sophomore Katie Hnatyk. Leftfielder Valyncia Raphael kept things going for the Badgers as she ripped one up the middle for an RBI single, followed by an RBI from Athena Vasquez after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to close out the scoring in a four-run frame.
Freshman Kelly Cross replaced Mercedes Lovato after one inning of play.
Wisconsin tacked on two more in the second and one in the third on RBIs from Theresa Boruta, Joey Daniels and Vasquez. The Badger's added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Stephanie Doyle RBI single, followed by a three-run home run from Hnatyk for an 11-0 lead. It was Hnatyk's second dinger of the game and ninth of the season.
Following Thursday's matchup versus Butler, the Flames host Loyola in a three-game series at Flames Field on April 29-30th.
