Bloomington, Ind.- UIC Head Soccer Coach John Trask recently returned to his coaching roots for his induction into the Cutters Soccer Club Hall of Fame.
Trask was honored for his contributions to the growth of youth soccer in the Bloomington community during his time as a player and assistant coach at Indiana University.
"People do not really care how much you know, but they want to know how much you care," said Don Rawson, Executive Director of the Indiana Youth Soccer Association and a former Indiana assistant coach, in his keynote address. "Coach Trask is one of the brightest young minds in the game whose knowledge is only surpassed by his passion for the game and his players."
Tom Berry, the current Director of Coaching for the Cutters Soccer Club and a former player under Trask, emphasized in his speech that all of the former players who returned for the evening have taken the passion and knowledge imparted to them by Coach Trask and currently give back to the game as coaches, administrators or business leaders who support the game in the community.
During his speech, Trask showed appreciation at how the Cutters Soccer Club has evolved from his time as the first Director of Coaching for what was then Monroe County Youth Soccer.
The highlight of the evening was the appearance of nine of Trask's former players from the first club and high school team that he worked with.
