Soccer Falls At No. 17 Indiana, 1-0

Box Score

Bloomington, Ind.- Brad Ring's goal early in the second half was the difference as the UIC men's soccer team fell to No. 17 Indiana, 1-0, at Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium on Wednesday night.

UIC falls to 4-3-2, while the Hoosiers move to 6-3-1.

The two sides went scoreless in a very defensive-oriented first half, with a couple of attempts against goal by the Flames.

Following a giveaway deep in UIC's side of the field in the 50th minute, Ring launched a rocket from 25 yards out that a leaping Jovan Bubonja had no chance at stopping to put the home team ahead.

That's how the match would end despite a late UIC surge in offensive pressure. The Flames would unleash nine second-half attempts but were unable to get a solid shot on goal.

"We got beat by a better team," said UIC head coach John Trask. "One mistake and they make you pay for it. Fair dues to Indiana, we thank them for the game. Excellent team, excellent coaching staff. I was proud of the way we battled, just wasn't meant to be.

"Now everything is about the Horizon League."

Bubonja finished with three saves.

UIC resumes its trip with a match at Cleveland State this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.
