Youngstown, Ohio - UIC volleyball (10-10, 3-5) fell to Youngstown State (9-10, 3-5) in Ohio on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 (30-20, 30-28, 28-30, 28-30). Junior Christin Hunt notched a career-high 28 kills against the Penguins.

Hunt also led the team with four blocks and a .333 attack percentage. Sophomore Katerina Hanackova picked up a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Lana Lobdell owned a team-best three service aces and added three blocks on the afternoon.

Ebony Barbosa paced the Penguins with 16 kills, 17 digs and tied the team-high five blocks.

Tied 18-18, Youngstown State sparked a 12-2 run to capture game one, 30-20. The Penguins recorded a .486 attack percentage with 17 kills and zero errors in the victory. Barbosa led the charge for YSU with four kills and a .444 offensive clip.

The Flames bounced back in game two with an early 16-11 advantage. UIC continued to produce offensively with a 7-2 burst. YSU answered with four straight points to get within two points, but the Flames powered ahead and knotted the match at 1-1 (30-28).

The Penguins answered with a two-point win in game three, 30-28.

Game four remained close until Youngstown State posted a 5-1 run to take a 20-16 advantage. UIC responded with a 6-2 run to knot it at 22-22. The game tied four more times before YSU tabbed two of the final three points for the match victory, 30-28.

UIC continues its road schedule with matchups against Green Bay on Friday, Oct. 5 and Milwaukee on Saturday, Oct. 6.
