Chicago, Ill. - Sebastian Lystad, sophomore co-captain for the UIC men's tennis team was named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending October 28th, the league office announced on Thursday.
Lystad advanced to the round of 32 in singles in Minneapolis, defeating Horizon League foe Mark Goldin from Green Bay in the opening round in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
Lystad then paired with senior Andy Lockhart for doubles, defeating Notre Dame's David Anderson and Matt Johnson 9-7. The duo fell to the fourth-ranked team from Illinois, 7-3 in the second round.
This is the second player of the week honor Lystad has earned during the fall season. He also claimed the title the week of October 1st, after advancing to the A singles finals in two straight tournaments.
The UIC men's tennis team opens its 2008 campaign on January 12th, hosting DePaul at the Hinsdale Racquet Club at 6 p.m.
