Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball (15-15) dropped Western Illinois, 3-1 (18-30, 30-26, 31-29, 15-8), in its final regular season match at the Flames Athletic Center on Sunday night. After falling in game one, the Flames bounced back and grabbed the next three to capture the victory. Sophomore Katerina Hanackova led the Flames with 19 kills.
Hanackova was one dig shy of a double-double with nine in the win. Sophomore Lana Lobdell totaled 16 kills and led the Flames with a .536 attack percentage. Senior Liz Hrebic totaled a team-best 16 digs, while senior Ashley Martin tabbed a season-high 12 kills.
WIU's Monique Houston paced the squad with 21 kills and Lindsay Muehlbauer owned a team-best 19 digs.
Western Illinois posted a .576 attack percentage in game one to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. Houston totaled a game-high six kills en route to the 30-18 win.
UIC bounced back in game two with a come-from-behind victory. Trailing 13-11, the Flames recorded a 9-5 run to take a 21-19 advantage late in the frame. The Westerwinds got within one point (26-25), but UIC sealed the 30-26 win with a 4-1 burst.
WIU took a 2-1 advantage with a 30-14 win in game three.
The Flames turned the momentum to capture game four (31-29) in extra points. UIC totaled 15 kills and forced the Westerwinds to commit 11 errors in the victory.
UIC cruised to 15-8 win in game five. The Flames recorded a .571 offensive clip with 12 kills.
The Flames head to the Horizon League Tournament at Milwaukee on Nov. 15-18.
