Dayton, Ohio - UIC volleyball (14-14, 6-9) fell to Wright State in three games (25-30, 22-30, 27-30) on Saturday afternoon in Dayton, Ohio. Sophomore Lana Lobdell led the Flames with 10 kills and a .308 attack percentage.
Sophomore Katerina Hanackova owned eight kills and a team-high 12 digs, while junior Christin Hunt tied the match-high of six blocks. Sophomore setter Casie Sullivan picked up a career-high five service aces against the Raiders.
Alisha Kimbro paced Wright State with 15 kills and Lexi Leonhard owned a team-high 14 digs. Tara Geegan led the Raiders at the net with six blocks.
Tied at 4-4 early in game one, Wright State posted a 7-2 run (11-6). The Raiders began to expand the lead, but UIC recorded an 8-2 burst to knot it at 17-17. After notching five straight points, the Flames turned on the heat late in the frame to get within one point (25-24), but fell short, 30-25. The Raiders posted a .395 attack percentage with 21 kills and only four errors in game one.
Wright State headed into the break with a 2-0 advantage after grabbing game two by eight points (30-22).
Knotted at 9-9, UIC sparked a 4-2 run to own a 13-11 advantage early in game three. Wright State came back and tied it at 16-16, eventually taking a two-point lead at the midpoint (18-16). The Flames made a late comeback, but the Raiders captured the sweep with a 30-27.
The Flames return to Chicago to host Valparaiso and Western Illinois on Nov. 10 and 11 in their final regular season matches. UIC then heads to Milwaukee to battle in the 2007 Horizon League Tournament Championships on Nov. 15-18.
