Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's basketball will look for its third straight win and a season-series sweep of crosstown rival Loyola on Saturday night as the Flames (12-17, 6-9) and Ramblers (20-9, 10-5) lock horns in the regular-season finale in Rogers Park.
Tip time is set for 7 p.m. with the game being aired live on ESPN Radio 1000 AM.
While Loyola has locked up third place in the Horizon League, UIC's final standing and its seed for next week's league tournament is still up in the air.
The Flames need a win and a UW-Milwaukee loss to UW-Green Bay to secure the sixth seed, which would earn UIC a home game on Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the tournament's opening round. The Flames could also find their way into the sixth seed even with a loss, but would need a Panthers loss at UW-Green Bay and a Detroit loss at Butler on Saturday.
The Ramblers head into their tilt with UIC as the hottest team in the Horizon League having won their last seven games, including a 75-71 decision at #15 Butler on Thursday night. Loyola is the league's top scoring (70.8 ppg) and shooting (46%) team and is paced by All-Horizon League guard Blake Schilb (16.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg).
The Flames' offense has been clicking of late as well with the team topping the 70-point plateau while averaging 20.0 assists en route to winning its last two games.
UIC won the earlier meeting with Loyola this season, 79-73, on Jan. 13 at the Pavilion. Junior T.J. Gray paved the way for the Flames in the win, netting a career-high 22 points.
