All-Horizon League Postseason Awards in PDF Format

Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago junior Othyus Jeffers earned All-Horizon League First Team honors and sophomore Scott VanderMeer was named to the league's All-Defensive Team as men's basketball postseason awards were announced on Monday morning.
Jeffers, the 2005 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year, garnered first team all-league honors this season as he leads the Flames in scoring (15.7 ppg), rebounding (8.9 rpg) and steals (1.6 spg). He ranks in the top 10 in the Horizon League in all three categories while he rates third on his team in assists (2.6 apg).
Jeffers was joined on the All-Horizon League First Team by Butler's A.J. Graves, Wright State's DaShaun Wood, Loyola's Blake Schilb and Youngstown State's Quin Humphrey.
VanderMeer has rewritten the UIC and Horizon League record for blocks this season en route to All-Defensive Team accolades. The 6-foot-11 center owns 105 swats heading in the league tournament and ranks in the top 10 nationally in both total blocks and blocks per game (3.5 bpg). VanderMeer owns more blocks this season that six league teams have totaled and also rates third on this team in rebounding (5.5 rpg).
Ryvon Covile (Detroit), Terry Evans (UW-Green Bay), Majak Kou (Loyola) and Wood (Wright State) were the four other members of this year's All-Defensive Team.
In other league awards, Wood took home Horizon League Player of the Year honors while Butler's Mike Green was named Horizon League Newcomer of the Year. Bulldogs headmaster Todd Lickliter was named the Coach of the Year.
The All-Horizon League Newcomer Team consisted of Green and Pete Campbell of Butler, Todd Brown and Vaughn Duggins of Wright State, as well as Paige Paulsen of UW-Milwaukee.
Ryan Evanochko (UW-Green Bay), Mike Schachtner (UW-Green Bay), Green (Butler), Covile (Detroit) and Brandon Cotton (Detroit) made up the All-Horizon League Second Team.
