Dallas, Texas- Despite some hard-fought battles in both singles and doubles play, the UIC men's tennis team came up short in a 7-0 loss to perennial power SMU at the Bent Tree Country Club on Tuesday night.
After falling in doubles action to the Mustangs, the Flames came out focused in singles play.
Bastian Harbo, Eric Fey and Sam Sweeney each took the first set in their respective matches, while Sebastian Lystad battled David Kuczer tooth-and-nail in their opening frame at the second singles slot.
But UIC was unable to keep the momentum going, as SMU rebounded on their home courts to claim the singles slate.
The Flames wrap up a three-game swing through Texas with a dual match against Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
