Evergreen Park, Ill.- The UIC women's tennis team won for the third consecutive time with a 7-0 shutout over Detroit at Evegreen Racquet and Fitness on Friday afternoon.
The Flames (3-5, 2-0 Horizon League) won two of three doubles matches and swept the singles side, including five straight-set victories, to clinch every dual match point.
Callan Smith won at No. 1 singles in sweeping fashion, earning an impressive 6-3, 6-3 win over defending Horizon League Athlete of the Year Annie Moore.
The Flames will play their third dual match in three days with a non-conference tilt against Northern Iowa on neutral courts in DeKalb, Ill. on Saturday.
