Indianapolis, Ind.- The UIC women's tennis team will set its sights on the program's 11th consecutive conference crown on Sunday as the Flames won both of their tournament matches in the 2007 Horizon League Women's Tennis Championships on Saturday.
UIC blanked Wright State, 4-0, in its first round morning match and went on to defeat Cleveland State in a semifinal bout by the same score.
The top-seeded Flames will face second-seeded Butler, who upended Youngstown State and Detroit, in Sunday's championship match in a rematch of last year's final. The contest begins at 9:15 a.m. Central at the North Central Courts in Indianapolis.
In the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season, the Flames shut out the Bulldogs on Butler's home courts in a 7-0 UIC win on April 19th.
UIC had no trouble in the first round, winning the doubles point with two 8-2 victories and utilizing straight-set victories from All-Horizon League First Teamer Grace Gill-Morlis and steady rookie contributors Jenna Reisch and Amy Jellish for the 4-0 win.
The Vikings proved to be a little tougher, but the Flames persevered to claim the doubles point and eventually clinched the match behind two-set decisions from Gill-Morlis, Reisch and Christina Oum.
