Box Score

Akron, Ohio- A rare late goal allowed by the 25th-ranked UIC men's soccer team was the difference in the Flames' 2-1 road loss to Akron at Lee Jackson Field on Thursday night.

UIC fell to 1-1-1, while the Zips improved to 3-2-0.

The Flames fell behind early, when Matt Tutich scored off of a free kick taken by Elliot Bradbrook in the 21st minute.

UIC would equalize 10 minutes later. In the 31st minute Cesar Zambrano sent a ball to Pavle Dundjer, who launched a rocket past Akron keeper Evan Bush to knot the game.

That's how the score would stay for most of the match, but in the 82nd minute Bradbrook struck in a ball from close range just moments after a restart to give the hosts the game-winning goal.

The two goals allowed on Thursday marked the first time UIC allowed multiple goals in a game since November 5, 2005, ending UIC's streak of 23 consecutive matches without giving up more than one goal. The Flames allowed just nine goals during that span.

UIC hosts Western Illinois in a 2006 NCAA Tournament rematch on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Flames Field.
