Columbus, Ohio - Two members of the UIC men's tennis team competed at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional championships, held at Ohio State late last week, performing well against tough competition in singles and doubles play.
Sebastian Lystad, one of the top seeded competitors in the singles qualifying bracket, defeated IPFW's Roberto Cabrini (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) and Louisville's Andrew Carter (6-4, 7-5) to face Indiana's Jeremy Langer for the right to advance into the main singles draw at the tournament. After a hard fought match, Lystad fell to Langer 6-1, 6-2.
Dave Robare, also competing in the qualifying singles bracket, was defeated by Casey Cullen of Western Michigan, 6-0, 6-2 in the opening round.
Lystad and Robare paired up for doubles action, falling to the third-ranked team of Heiser and Roelofse of Illinois, 8-3.
