Chicago, Ill.- The undefeated UIC men's soccer team achieved the highest national ranking in school history on Monday, Oct. 6, when the latest Soccer America Men's Top 25 poll featured the Flames at No. 4 in the country.
UIC is off to a school-record start of 8-0-3 this season.
Prior to Monday's No. 4 national ranking, the Flames' previous best was a No. 6 ranking that was achieved on two different occasions: last week and the week of Sept. 26, 2006.
The Flames are one of just five teams in Soccer America's Top 25 that remain unbeaten: No. 1 Wake Forest (9-0-0), No. 5 Northwestern (9-0-2), No. 6 Saint Louis (4-0-5) and No. 22 Loyola College in Maryland (8-0-1) are the others.
UIC hosts No. 16 Ohio State (7-2-1), the 2007 national runner-up, this Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Flames Field, located at 901 W. Roosevelt Road in Chicago. Wednesday is WHITE OUT Night, with Flames fans encouraged to wear white in support of the home side and commemorative WHITE OUT t-shirts given to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Magnum Insurance.
